Title: Vices
Description: My piece, "Vices" was inspired by an array of events occurring in my life recently. I've dealt with a lot of family issues, specifically with the recurring bad behavior of my sibling. I needed to find something that I could put my feelings into, so I decided to make a sculpture that conveyed my emotions in a unique way. With my love for African culture, I decided to create an African voodoo priestess. The meaning behind the priestess is that she suffers consequences due to her wicked behavior. Stitches have been sewn into her mouth and eyes as a punishment for her voodoo ways. The tattoo on her neck contains a symbol meaning "learn from your mistakes". All of these elements represent my emotions towards my brother's actions. It's sad for me to watch my sibling continue to destroy himself through immoral choices, as I know that he will suffer the consequences. Learning from your mistakes is a huge life lesson that everyone must understand, because if you do not, you may become a victim of your own vices.
