Title: | Light the Ocean |
Description: | This octopus is a box (two pieces). Her clever draping design makes this piece unique in my experience. It allowed her to develop the parts separately, but also created the challenge of controlling the drying and fitting the parts together successfully.Stephanie is completely deaf. In order for me to teach her, I had to learn the American Sign Language basics, and try to have an interpreter here whenever we could. We used a lot of "Miss Sharon" sign language, aka my unique way of explaining things with motions, and visuals. I usually showed her an exact version of the steps with another piece of clay and she got it. The design is entirely her own, (of course). Fortunately for me, she's naturally gifted!! |
